Wrongful Termination

Can I sue my employer for wrongful termination?

In California, most employees are considered to be at-will, which means you can be fired for any reason or no reason whatsoever. However, and even an at-will employee can sue their employer if they were fired for an illegal reason.

Illegal reasons include retaliation based off of a protected activity, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and a host of other illegal reasons. It's really important that if you feel like you were fired for an illegal reason, that you contact an attorney who will help you evaluate your case and tell you whether or not you were actually fired for an illegal reason, which you can sue your employer for, or potentially not an illegal reason, which you can't sue for.
